Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover whatever he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the adverse comments from other people destroy his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
